The Akshardham Temple at Delhi was inaugurated today by the Prime Minister. He was accompanied by the President and others.
Great monument, and it reminds me of my Delhi trip last year where I had managed to catch a glimpse of it. I reckon that there is yet another Akshardham in UK which was enlisted as one of the seventy wonders around the world in an issue of Reader's Digest.

While reading the story on Steve Jobs posted by [info]the_little_sasi, a glance through the window makes me realise that rains have indeed arrived in true form. The "Queen of Suburbs" under a heavy downpour and a goodbye to the sweltering heat !
An inspiring article and a pleasant weather ...

Well, my leg still hurts because of encounters with [info]_serious_error and his boots while playing our very own "chowpatti soccer".
//Trying to mimic Yoda's grammar (for Star Wars' followers)
Nice elaborations on the game by our team members, I read.
Try to participate in today's game, I will.
Vengeance with Binu, I shall take ;)
//Yoda, back in meditation...
If yet another game is on cards today, some suggestions:
* Get some extra T-shirts for that extra sweating.
* Ground should have atleast one electric pole around which [info]devendra_sm can dodge other players, like on Wednesday.
* Danny and myself will only be goal keepers(involves less running)
* [info]the_keyman should avoid dangerous styles of playing [the V formation :) ], lest he should hurt himself badly at wrong places.
* [info]aramanath should only be allowed to play in a small confined circle
* As for [info]_samurai_jack try to improve your stamina. Marriage should not come in between you and soccer ;)

--- Guys, I hope you don't beat me up for this !

24th April 2005, 7 am in the morning, and the flight which was already delayed by an hour took off for Delhi with Amit and myself anxious about the next two days at Elitex 2005. Three hours later, we reached Hotel Shyama International which is located just opposite IIT Delhi. We had Chhole Bhature for lunch and relaxed in the afternoon.

Early in the evening we reached India Habitat Centre and met the organisers. Work was still going on at the centre, the final wiring, installation of computers etc. For once, I doubted the completion of all h/w installation by the next morning. Incidentally, we also met Nihar, Vijay and other colleagues from NCST Bangalore. Whilst everyone was busy preparing their own stalls, putting up posters etc., it started to rain outside and lots of stalls in the open were drenched. The downpour came as a pleasant surprise as it cooled down the weather and it was pleasant at least for the next two days.

The following morning, we again reached the venue and to my amazement, I found my stall shifted to another place with no machines whatsoever. Things were still unsettled with people trying to get the machines and the inet connections setup. Amit and myself, both of us managed to setup our machines too and the exhibition was opened to people at around 10 am. Things couldn't have been worse, since my m/c was crippled with the RPC exploiting Blaster32 virus. It shut down my m/c when visitors started to emerge around but I managed to fix it finally and was able to explain them fairly about "Setu". My stall was adjacent to IndiX and JanBharatii whilst Amit was doing his "Vidyakash" explanations at a distance, from the NLP line of stalls. It was a day with mixed experiences and lots of visitors.

At the end of a gruelling day, CDACians from all centres including Shri Ramkrishna (DG-CDAC) had an inviting dinner at Park Balluchi Restaurant.

The second day of Elitex 2005 was relatively significant since the secretary to IT Ministry, Shri Brijesh Kumar was expected and everyone back at their stalls making sure everything was well setup. The gentleman arrived at noon with the usual expected crowd around him, camera flashes et al. but he decided to visit only non-NLP projects this time around. Most of the exhibitors were disheartened at this but he went off in a flash. Later in the day, Shri Taneja (Sr. Director, DIT) visited the "Setu" exhibit accompanied by Shri Arakal and I was fairly successful in explaining him our project.

Yet another exhausting day comes to an end and lest I forget to mention, all the project teams including ourselves took remembrances of Elitex 2005 in the form of photographs !

Many thanx to prodizy and astra1111 for the welcoming me aboard. The "Grammar God" thing posted by prodizy is only to bring in some extravaganza.
Anyways, I would like to wish sahaj and _trespasser_ all the very best on their birthdays. The day at NCSTK today, ends with a couple of birthday cakes and a small get-together.

Its been two hours since I started troubleshooting the problem. During the boot my comp crashed showing the following, last couple of lines.
----
426: cannot open /dev/console no such file
kernel panic. Attempted to kill init !
----
[keyboard starts blinking]
Googling hasn't helped much...
The system was working fine until last Saturday when I added my old Creative CD Drive to it.
I don't know whether its necessary to recompile the kernel/add modules with change of h/w in ver 2.4.27. Googling made me realise that there are potential problems with SATA devices and the present version. And also, grub is not able to find the root filesystem following processing of initrd.img, hence the problem.
Probably time to upgrade my kernel now.

Hi bloglanders,
Today is an auspicious day for all of us as it is Gudi Padwa and start of a new year. Moreover, gives me a nice reason to start my livejournal blog today. Attended the Puja in the morning and presently watching the cricket match. Pakistan batting fiercely and chances look dim for India...
